Some Helpful Hints For Common Computer Problems and Maintenance

Printer Problem

If you have a problem with your printer - unplug the printer from the electrical outlet, wait a few minutes and reinsert the plug. All printers have an automatic reset that is activated by unplugging it from the power supply.

This might fix your problem.

Computer Maintenance

Before asking for help, check these easy maintenance steps

1. Be sure your computer is plugged in.

2. Complete a Disk Clean Up and Defragmenting

Disk Clean Up - perform this weekly

1. Click on "Start"

2. Highlight "All programs"

3. Highlight "Accessories"

4. Highlight "System Tools"

5. Highlight "Disk Clean Up"

6. Left click on scan

7. Place a check in each box on left side of list

8. Click OK

Defragment - perform this monthly

1. Click on "Start"

2. Highlight "All Programs"

3. Highlight "Accessories"

4. Highlight "System Tools"

5. Highlight "Defragmenter"

6. Click on "Defragment" - this will be C-Drive

If this has not been done recently it can take a half hour or more. Allow time for it to complete defragmenting.

Even more than an hour may be needed. Do not interrupt!
